Things to Eat on an Empty Stomach for Increased Metabolism

A healthy mind resides in a healthy body, however, you must understand that a healthy body comes from a lifestyle. When it comes to health and well-being, prevention is better than cure. As part of Ayurveda, the primary guideline of illness treatment is to maintain optimum weight and remove toxins from the digestive system.

You must fixate your thoughts on shedding some extra kilos to maintain a healthy weight. Here are some superfoods that when consumed on an empty stomach helps lose weight.

  • Warm water with ghee or lemon – Drinking 200 ml of warm water, plain or with a touch of lemon, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach helps to promote peristalsis, the downward passage of waste and food in the digestive tract. Ghee may also be added to warm water to lubricate the digestive system and alleviate constipation for those with a lean (Vata / ectomorph) or medium-sized body type (pitta/mesomorph).
  • Herbal Concoction – Prepare a cup of herbal spiced tea in the morning to start your day. Fennel seeds, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, cardamom seeds, and a handful of carrom seeds may all be combined with warm water to make a delectable soup. Simmer until it’s half the original volume, then drink on an empty stomach to help with gastric discomfort.
  • Uplift your metabolism with this concoction– An infusion of cinnamon, cardamom, clove, shredded ginger, pepper, star anise, and turmeric cooked in boiled water can jump-start your metabolism and help you lose weight quickly. Add a squeeze of lemon juice and a spoonful of coconut sugar for sweetness, and serve. Helping you lose weight is a major benefit of this tea, which increases your body’s temperature and metabolism.
  • Green Detox Juice – When it comes to Ayurveda, we advocate consuming raw fruits and vegetables to keep the digestive system from being overloaded with parasites and germs that affect gut health. It is best to stay away from smoothies that include a variety of ingredients such as fruits, milk, yoghurt, and other potentially harmful substances that might lead to an increase in ama or toxins in the body. Alternatively, you may sip on some green detox juice or celery juice with a pinch of pink salt and a tablespoon of coconut oil to decrease inflammation in the body and shed some pounds.
  • A bowl of raw fruits – Raw fruits such as green or red apple, cranberry, blue or blackberry, cherry or strawberry, pineapple or blackberry or Indian gooseberry (Amla), a semi-ripe banana or a pomegranate can be consumed after the herbal teas. You’ll notice an improvement in your skin’s tone and elasticity as a result of eating these fruits. Weight loss is aided by this. Do not eat pumpkins, melon, cantaloupe, and other sweet and juicy fruits.

Eat breakfast an hour after consuming fruit to allow your metabolism and appetite to improve.

Ayurvedic Rules of Weight Loss

  1. Consume food only when you are really hungry.
  2. Adhere to the sun’s circadian cycle and abstain from eating after sundown.
  3. Fast intermittently for 16 hours, beginning at sundown and ending two hours after dawn.
  4. Consume raw fruits before you consume prepared food.
  5. Keep in mind that your stomach is around the size of your hand. Divide your meals into smaller portions and consume just around 80 per cent of your appetite to provide space for your digestive fluids to work.
